Strawberry legs

With the beginning of spring, and the thoughts of summer pool parties and trips to the beach quickly approaching, many of us automatically begin to worry about our “Strawberry legs”. The pitted or dotted appearance of the skin that resembles the look and texture of real strawberries, can be caused by different phenomena. Some of the most common reasons why we may end up with Strawberry legs are: clogged or enlarged pores; accumulation of dead skin cells, oil and bacteria; skin damage resulting from shaving or waxing; inflamed hair follicles; ingrown hairs; and a variety of infections caused by the use of sponges, luffas, or razors, among other problems.

At Florida Skin Center, our physicians and physician assistants specialize in the personalized treatment of the different causes that may be triggering the strawberry look of your skin, which may involve the use of special exfoliating cleansers, hydrators, moisturizers, prescription antibiotics, and Laser treatment for hair removal, among other therapies designed to improve your skin’s health, tone, smoothness, and general appearance.

If you have any questions about “strawberry legs or any other skin condition, please contact any of our four offices and we will be happy to schedule a skin exam with one of our providers.
