Why Choose Florida Skin Center for Pediatric Dermatology?
Under the expertise of Dr. Aurora Badia, Florida Skin Center offers specialized care to our younger Florida residents. With a staff extensively trained in both pediatrics and dermatology, we are able to provide the patient, gentle care that a child requires. Our facilities have special waiting areas just for kids with movies, coloring, toys, and games to keep them entertained. We provide juice boxes and a special surprise to all of our younger guests. We have substantial experience in treating the following conditions:
Port wine stains and hemangiomas — Dr. Badia treats these permanent, vascular birthmarks with a laser. The procedure is quick, and it causes minimal discomfort. Several treatments are typically required for optimal improvement.Below: A port wine stain before and after removal treatment.
Molluscum contagiosum — Part of the wart family, these dome-shaped growths have a tiny depression in the center. They can occur anywhere on the body. They are harmless, but highly contagious and will spread if not treated with liquid nitrogen therapy and topical medications.
Verruca Vulgaris (warts) are a viral infection. Skin reacts to form a firm, flesh-colored growth. Warts are contagious, transferred by direct contact. They can occur anywhere on the body. Treatment options include topical medication and liquid nitrogen.
Atopic dermatitis (eczema) is a chronic, itchy skin condition. It is very common in children but can develop at any age. Skin is dry, scaly, and red with small scratch marks. Treatment includes topical medication and antihistamines.
Acne vulgaris (acne) affects children of all ages, varying in severity. A disorder of the oil glands causes overproduction of sebum (oil), leading to plugged pores. Untreated, acne can cause permanent scarring. We offer a wide range of treatment options for acne.
What Pediatric Dermatology Treatments Are Performed?
Most of the above conditions require prescriptions or topical medications for treatment. If we have to perform any treatment in-office that may cause discomfort, we use a shotblocker. This helps minimize the pain from numbing injections and liquid nitrogen treatments. In addition to the conditions and treatments above, we offer free skin checks for children. Although uncommon, skin cancer can still be a threat to children, and regular skin checks help minimize the chance of a serious case developing.
How Much Do Pediatric Dermatology Treatments Cost?
In order to determine the exact cost of your child’s treatment, we invite guests to schedule an appointment so that we can develop a personalized treatment plan that will satisfy both their health and cosmetic goals. Once a treatment plan is determined, we will be able to provide a clear breakdown of costs. To make our services accessible to those who need them, we offer flexible financing and payment options. We also accept insurance when applicable.
Guests of all ages are welcome at Florida Skin Center, where we specialize in treatments specifically for the younger residents of Punta Gorda, Cape Coral, and Fort Myers, FL. To learn more about our treatments or to schedule an appointment, contact us today.
