Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a substance that is naturally produced in our body and is responsible for the supple skin we see in youth. In dermatology, we have found a variety of uses for HA, including skin care and dermal fillers to help improve the look and feel of our skin. The majority of dermal fillers on the market including JUVÉDERM, are hyaluronic acid based fillers and because our bodies naturally produce HA, they are very unlikely to cause allergic reactions and are well tolerated by most. While a majority of dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, each individual product is not created equally and are tailored to be meant for specific injection sites. Common sites of filler injections include but are not limited to: the marionette lines, fine lines around the mouth, lips and cheeks to add volume.
Things to know before you go
At Florida Skin Center, a licensed medical provider will work together with you to evaluate the areas you want to improve while also giving you natural results. Keep in mind, your injector may recommend more than one vial of product to give you the best result. Each vial of filler contains 1mL of product. You will be surprised what that looks like when using a teaspoon for comparison.
