A variety of symptoms related to COVID-19, ranging from mild to severe, have been reported in the media and included in checklists provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the last few weeks.
Some of these include cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, chest pain or pressure, confusion, inability to arouse, fever, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and loss of taste or smell, among others. This list is not all-inclusive, and reports of other issues found in patients who tested positive for the virus include digestive problems, blood clotting, and even strokes.
At Florida Skin Center we have compiled a list of skin symptoms noted by Dermatology specialists across the world which could possibly be related to the coronavirus infection. Some of these skin symptoms have been described as a potential early indicator of the presence of the COVID19 virus in those individuals who do not yet exhibit the classic symptoms described above.
The reported skin-specific symptoms for COVID19 include:
- Livedoid rash
- Pernio or chilblains
- Bluish lips or face
It has been shown that most of these symptoms appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus and the recommendation is to look for medical attention if you experience some or a combination of them.
