This guest is a 10-year-old girl that presented with patches of Alopecia Areata on the scalp and the eyebrow.
A workup with bloodwork was ordered, which revealed an elevated immune marker, and guest was referred to Rheumatology for follow up.
At the same time, she received dermatologic treatment with a topical steroid cream and a calcineurin inhibitor medication, which provided better results in the areas of hair loss of the scalp compared to the eyebrow.
Our Dermatology provider then decided to treat the alopecia on the eyebrow with Latisse®, with excellent results as shown in the before and after pictures. Latisse® (bimatoprost), is a topical prostaglandin analog indicated to treat hypotrichosis of the eyelashes, and in this case was used off-label to treat our guest.
