Acne

Acne is the most common skin condition among teenagers and young adults, affecting approximately 85% of the young population. Acne is described as an inflammation of the pilosebasceous units and it commonly starts in puberty, although it may also initiate after the age of 25. Acne is more common in males than females, has prevalence among Asians and Africans, and is usually linked to genetic predisposition.

In Southwest Florida, Florida Skin Center has developed a renowned Acne Clinic, with physicians and physician assistants that specialize in the personalized treatment of the different presentations of acne.

Many people with acne have experienced some of the physical and psychological effects of this disease, and have tried a variety of over the counter and at-home preparations before they decide to look for medical help. AT FSC, we offer a variety of treatment options for acne, which include complete skin care regimens, topical prescriptions (creams, gels and solutions), oral antibiotics, hormonal management, oral isotretinoin (commonly known as “Accutane”), laser therapy, and aesthetic procedures (extraction, chemical peels, collagen induction, etc.).

Please let us show you some of the “before and after” pictures of the wonderful results that our guests have achieved with the appropriate treatment for acne. If you have any questions about acne or any other skin condition, please contact any of our four offices and we will be happy to schedule a skin exam with one of our providers.
