Pediatric Dermatology

Top quality pediatric dermatology available in Fort Myers

Dr. Badia, trained as a pediatrician as well as a dermatologist, is particularly skilled at treating pediatric patients. She is also on the National Osteopathic Pediatric Dermatology Certification Board. With experience and specialized qualifications, she understands skin conditions that are unique to children, and provides knowledgeable and compassionate care in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Lehigh Acres.

Our facilities have special waiting areas just for kids, with movies, toys, and games to keep them entertained. Juice boxes are provided. Every new pediatric patient gets a special surprise, and we encourage all our young patients to color a picture of Sunny, our FSC mascot.

Common pediatric skin conditions

  • Port wine stains and hemangiomas — Dr. Badia treats these permanent, vascular birthmarks with a laser. The procedure is quick, and it causes minimal discomfort. Several treatments are typically required for optimal improvement.

  • Molluscum contagiosum before and after Molluscum contagiosum — Part of the wart family, these dome-shaped growths have a tiny depression in the center. They can occur anywhere on the body. They are harmless, but highly contagious and will spread if not treated with liquid nitrogen therapy and topical medications.
  • Verruca vulgaris Verruca vulgaris (warts) are a viral infection. Skin reacts to form a firm, flesh-colored growth. Warts are contagious, transferred by direct contact. They can occur anywhere on the body. Treatment options include topical medication and liquid nitrogen.
  • Atopic dermatitis Atopic dermatitis (eczema) is a chronic, itchy skin condition. It is very common in children but can develop at any age. Skin is dry, scaly, and red with small scratch marks. Treatment includes topical medication and antihistamines.
  • Acne vulgaris (acne) affects children of all ages, varying in severity. A disorder of the oil glands causes overproduction of sebum (oil), leading to plugged pores. Untreated, acne can cause permanent scarring. We offer a wide range of treatment options for acne. Acne Before and After
